Valérie Langlois holds the Canada Research Chair in Ecotoxicogenomics at INRS. Her research focuses on advancing standardized eDNA protocols, developing molecular tools to monitor biodiversity and assess contaminant impacts on ecosystems.

Hugo Asselin

Hugo Asselin is professor at UQAT’s School of Indigenous Studies and he holds the Desjardins Chair in Small Community Development at UQAT. He conducts collaborative research with Indigenous and other local communities on various topics, including land and natural resources governance.

A biologist and ecologist by training, Aurore Lucas holds two master’s degrees in functional ecology and biology from Montpellier (France) and UQAT. Her professional career has led her to design and carry out various projects related to major environmental and territorial issues, such as climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable resource management.

Vani specialized in microbial ecology during her PhD and postdoctoral fellowship. She is now a biologist at the Direction des expertises en évaluation du risque at CEAEQ (MELCCFP). Her work focuses on the development and use of rapid detection tools for genetic material from aquatic microorganisms, invasive exotic aquatic plants, and other indicator organisms for freshwater quality.

Yann Surget-Groba is a professor in ecological and environmental genomics at the Université du Québec en Outaouais. His research focuses on conservation genetics and adaptation to climate change, as well as the development of tools for monitoring biodiversity and threatened and vulnerable species.

Kristian Meissner brings over two decades of expertise in water quality research and environmental management, with a focus on strategic development in standardization and monitoring. With more than a decade in international water quality method standardization, he chairs two working groups in CEN and ISO dedicated to DNA method standards for aquatic biodiversity monitoring and bioassessment. He co-founded and co-chairs iESTF, an inclusive platform for standard seed document development of molecular methods, and led major initiatives such as renewing Finland’s national environmental monitoring strategy to 2030.
